A little help, a better remote.
Make yourself
at home.
Setup help for DuoMote on iPhone and iPhone Duo.
Start with your room.
- Connect your iPhone to the same local network as your devices.
- Allow Local Network access when prompted. You can change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
- Open Add, name your room, and review the discovered devices.
- For compatible Google TV / Android TV devices, tap Pair and enter the code displayed on the TV.
- For Home Assistant, sign in using your instance’s login page and choose the devices to add.
- Review the suggested activities and finish setup.
Try the app without hardware
The demo room simulates entertainment devices and lights. Demo controls affect simulated state, not physical equipment. You can enable the Demo room toggle in setup.
My TV is not discovered
Confirm the phone and TV are on the same reachable network and the TV is awake. Guest Wi-Fi, network isolation, VPN routing, and disabled Local Network access can prevent discovery. Not every television supports the Android TV Remote protocol.
A device says “Needs pairing”
Open the device in Devices and pair it again using the new code on your TV. This can be necessary after a TV reset or if it forgets the remote.
How do I control Apple TV?
Configure the Apple TV integration in your own Home Assistant instance, then connect that instance in DuoMote. Direct Apple TV pairing without Home Assistant is not included.
What are activities?
Activities group devices and assign navigation, volume, playback, and power roles. Edit an activity to select its devices, desired states, inputs, and startup sequence. Available actions depend on device support.
Why is location optional?
The Follow the room theme option uses your approximate location on your phone to estimate sunrise and sunset. You can choose a theme manually and decline location access.
